Are you looking for a job on-board the ship? Cause most of the staff on board is recruited outside the US. Except for certain positions (on-board coordinator, guest relations, sales etc) those are usually hired from within the company. So definitely look for a shore side position, all the major cruise lines have open houses that they advertise. You can also apply on their website, submit your resume %26amp; they will contact you when there is an opening. Good luck :)
Reply:Go to a cruiseline website, contact them, and go from there
Reply:Don't waste your money on those fools! You can apply DIRECTLY at the cruise lines' websites. Make sure you look for a link for "employment" or "jobs".

Good luck! I worked for Princess for 7 years, and it was a BLAST. :D
Reply:Hi Dennis,

Dont do it trhu an agency.

90% of the times they are scams. Specially since while working on ships you are subject to contracts that are very different from land jobs the agencies are not subject to any laws.

Go directly to the source.

Now, to get a job directly with a cruise line is not easy, so what I would do is go trhu a concession.

Concessions run some services onboard like the shops, casinos, photo, spas.

Ive worked for Carnival as a receptionist and later for the 2 major shop concessions.

Note that if you start working for a concessions, after it麓s a lot easier to migrate into the cruise line that you like better.

Also, working for a concession you have the advantage of being shifted into several diferent cruise lines, which gives you the edge on finding out which one you like better, believe me they are VERY different between themselves and bigger is certanly not better to work for.

The 2 major concessions are

www.hardingbros.co.uk

easier to get in, interviews over the phone (unless you live in the UK, in which case you have to go to Bristol), pays more (160pounds a week + comission), they have around 50 ships, from the top of the industry like Crystal, Silverseas and Cunnard, to the bottom like Island Cruises and Thomson.

and

www.starboardcruise.com/

they are bigger, Royal, Carnival, Celebrity, Costa.

Pays less, USD 500 a month + commission.

I like Hardings a lot better, also they have better opportunities of promotions, they are growing fast and need assistant managers and managers always.

The advantage of working on the shops is that 90% of cruises are duty free, so the shops dont open while in port, therefore you dont work while in port.

You are a staff member, not crew, and that gives you a much better life onboard.

The only thing is: make sure your resume has some retail experience, if you dont, lie. Nobody will check.

The other concessions actually require that you know who to be a casino dealer or a photographer, the shops all you gotta know is how to sell, and thats very easy.

Being polite, knowing how to talk to passengers, etc..

there is some guides to it. Both Hardings and Starboard have it for people who are alredy working for them, I麓ve got them here on PDF.

Email me if you want them.

After you pass the interview, there are a couple of things they will require you to do, but not to worry.

Good luck
