HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SERVER(POP) SETTINGS ARE TO SET IT UP TO USE?
When I look for jobs online %26amp; click the e-mail to respond, it won't let me..POP settings???? How do I fix it?
If you want to set up Outlook Express or another email client for POP access to your Yahoo! Mail account, see: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya... (Note: you must have a Yahoo! Mail Plus Account to do this. If you don't have Mail Plus, you can get free POP access to your account through Ypops!: http://ypopsemail.com/ )

If, instead, you would prefer that Yahoo! Mail open when you click on an email link you need to set your default email client to Yahoo! Mail in your Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Programs. If Yahoo! Mail isn't one of the options listed, read on:

If you're an Internet Explorer for Windows user (Firefox for Windows users see below) and want to use Yahoo! Mail as your default email client, you have to install a MAPI handler compatible with Yahoo! Mail and you get it by installing Yahoo! Messenger. If you don't want Messenger, don't worry, you can uninstall it immediately -- in fact, you don't have to run it even once.

Go here to download Messenger:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/download.php

When the installer runs, be sure to install the Browser Services: on Step 2 of the installation process, under "Choose Products To Install" choose Custom Install, then check the box next to Browser Services. You don't need to install anything else except Messenger (required) and Browser Services.

On the final installation screen, you can uncheck the box if you don't want Messenger to launch.

Verify that the necessary program was installed and configured properly by going to your Control Panel %26gt;%26gt; Add/Remove Programs. If you see 'Yahoo! Internet Mail' and 'Yahoo! Browser Services' in the list, you're all set. If either one is not listed, I'm not sure what went wrong but try uninstalling both Yahoo! Browser Services AND Yahoo! Messenger, and try downloading Messenger again.

While you're in Add/Remove Programs you can go ahead and uninstall Messenger right now if you don't want it on your computer. (Just don't uninstall Yahoo! Browser Services or Yahoo! Internet Mail.)

Now you will be able to select Yahoo! Mail in Internet Options %26gt;%26gt; Programs. (You can do this either from Internet Explorer or from your Control Panel.)

This works for Windows XP and should work for Vista as well, but I haven't tested it with Vista.

For Firefox 2 users: this should work for you as well, but when you click on a mailto link Yahoo! Mail will open in Internet Explorer. If you want Yahoo! Mail to open in Firefox, you need to install a Firefox Add-On called WebmailCompose. For complete instructions on installing and configuring it, see:

http://sas.sparklingstudios.com/articles...

For Firefox 1.5 users: As for FF2, if you want Yahoo! Mail to open in Firefox, you can install the previous version WebmailCompose from mozilla.com. Because it's for an older version of Firefox, it's in the "Sandbox" so you will need to login or create an account and then enable 'Show Sandbox' in your account settings.

If you use Firefox exclusively, you don't need to download Yahoo! Messenger at all. Simply install the Add-On.

It CAN be done for FREE!!

If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options.

or download and install YPOPS

http://ypopsemail.com/

then follow the directions for your version of outlook here,

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or...

If you have trouble with set up, check the YPOPS installation page for alternate set up instructions.

I currently utilize the most recent version of Thunderbird (2.0.0.4)

and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS if you are interested) and have no problems.

DO NOT believe those who say it won't work.
