I am a teen looking for help at first job application?

I have never had a "real" job before. Just babysat. Can I put that? I'm applying for a part-time job at Fred's. What skills should I put down? I want to get this perfect.

Of course put any experience you've had. Ask the families you've babysat and ur teacher for a reference. (e.g Sally is a responsible, attentive coopeartive person blah blah) . Time management, leadership are some examples of skills. Also try looking at example applications on the net. Just search for 'sample resumes'. Good Luck!
Reply:Babysitting is a real job. You can put that on an application. Skills that you will want to list- being on time, working hard, patience under pressure (depending on how crazy the kids are), etc.

You will also want to let the employer know about how you are doing in school and what hours you can be available. (Don't worry if you are in highschool, you can't work past 10 pm on a school night.)

The really important part is the interview. You need to anticipate questions. For a position where you handle money you will need to point out math skills, dealing with customers- how you handle the kids you watch and what happens when a problem occurs. Have a friend try to come up with questions and "pre-interview" you. It will make meeting your manager that much easier.

michiganworks.org has some good sources for applications/resume writing. Buzzwords are nice too.
Reply:well, you can tell them that youve had several jobs, maybe not real ones but enough experience to give you a bigger sense of responsability (they love to hear that kind of stuff), that you are responsible, honest, willing to learn and develop yourself professionally. And dont be shy when you go to the interview.

hope that helps and good luck
